On Wednesday, May 5, at Madrid International Lab was held a Coffee break which he attended as a guest Felix Gonzalez Herranz, Telecommunications Engineer and entrepreneur who founded the philanthropic initiative, Together we go out, whose objective is to help Ibero-American entrepreneurs give visibility to their start-ups, resolve their doubts and allow them to connect with each other and with the expert advisors who are part of the community. In addition, Félix positions himself as a great expert on the Latin American market since he is currently developing a program to promote the use of broadband in this area.
The Coffee Break consists of sharing a coffee with a relevant person, where the guest, in this case Félix González Herranz, shares his experience with the attending entrepreneurs and tries to answer all the questions that arise.
Cooperation as a way to prosper
Pedro Gonzalez Torroba, Director of Madrid Emprende, introduced the attendees to this young entrepreneur who decided to start his project when the economic crisis hit Spain hardest and when the country reached higher unemployment rates.
It was after a conversation with his grandfather, who told him that the situation in the country was much less dramatic than what his generation experienced during and after the civil war. And it was through collaboration and support among the entire community, regardless of the sides or political opinions they had.
And so, in that idea of cooperation, the starting point of JuntoSalimos was established.
My tool kit
To make an idea prosper, as a first piece of advice, Félix points out as a fundamental point to look at the “toolkit” that one has. What we know how to do and what resources we have. In his case, that kit was made up of knowledge about web development, video editing, and an extensive network of contacts who share the idea of promoting cooperation as a means of development.
What are my goals as an entrepreneur?
The objectives that one has as an entrepreneur are those that will structure the development of the project day after day, from which the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) will be developed, the set of functionalities that one considers basic to be able to test the model and see if it makes sense, should be modified or even scrapped.
In their case, they established the objectives of promoting solidarity in Spain and injecting some positivism; develop a philanthropic and social project, and finally “learn to be an entrepreneur” as an objective in itself.
Listen to your users and pivot if necessary
“The website was difficult to use, and the incentives offered did not motivate users,” Félix tells us. For this reason, this project, which was initially born to collect general ideas to get out of the crisis, takes a much more specific direction based on user requests and suggestions, and focuses on entrepreneurship.
The “win-win” culture
American culture is much more open when it comes to entrepreneurship. Investors are willing to listen to new ideas and, if they are not interested, they help to put in contact with other possible interested parties in the sector.
There is a lot of smart money flowing. Smart money is the one that comes from an investor who not only offers you financing, but also introduces you to clients, partners and investors who actively collaborate with the project.
All of this contributes to creating a pattern of behavior around which the creation of “win-win” situations is stimulated, in which the possibility of finding a benefit for all the component parts is sought, promoting business development.
