Generation D

Summary

  • Generation D is an initiative led by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation
  • Its objective is to promote the digital transformation of small and medium-sized companies

Generation D is an initiative led by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation that seeks to promote the digital transformation of small and medium-sized Spanish companies, thus improving their productivity and their possibilities for growth and internationalization.

The objective of this initiative is to offer a training and mentoring program to people from the management teams of SMEs and their workers, as well as unemployed young people who want to prepare themselves to contribute to the digital transformation of said companies.

Itineraries

The Generation D training initiative is articulated through two training itineraries:

  • Generation D SMEs: training and mentoring in digital transformation for people from management teams and qualification of people employed in SMEs.
  • Generation D Agents of Change: training and mentoring for unemployed young people and SME workers to be the experts that will contribute to the digitization process of SMEs.

Objectives

These projects are pursued in these first calls:

  1. Offer managers of SMEs with between 10-249 workers the necessary knowledge and skills to promote the digital transformation of their companies and thereby improve productivity and their possibilities of growth and internationalization.
  2. Offer future "change agents" the knowledge and skills necessary for their incorporation or requalification in the labor market as agents of digital transformation.
  3. Show how technology impacts business, allowing the customer to be placed at the center to provide solutions to their needs, and generate and exploit data for business decision-making.
  4. Provide the business fabric with talent with the ability to implement concrete and specific actions under an action plan.
  5. Reduce the digital gap due to gender issues by increasing the number of women trained in digital management of SMEs.

The EOI Foundation is in charge of managing the investment planned for this initiative. In this first call, the budget amounts to 199 million euros (147.5 million for Generation D SMEs and 51.5 million for Generation D agents of change), coming from the funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
