Last Thursday, April 27, was the X edition of the National Competition of Mini-companies organized by Junior Archievement and held at the Rafael del Pino Foundation.
Inside of the Mini-business program, faculty, and volunteers from the business community have helped students start and run their businesses, as well as develop skills and competencies throughout the school year.
During the grand finale, the 21 best projects out of the 900 presented exhibited their products and defended the viability of their company before the jury.
The jury, after deliberating, awarded a total of 9 special mentions and 2 prizes:
The General Director of Commerce and Entrepreneurship of the Madrid City Council, Concha Diaz de Villegas, was in charge of delivering to Pilar Prieto, from the IES Fray Luis de León in Salamanca, the Entrepreneurial Teacher of the Year Award for her career, support and continuous motivation of students.
For their enthusiasm, for the social and environmental impact, for the execution of the idea, for the feasibility and sustainability, the team of students who won the First Prize was shell bag, a project that will represent Spain in the European final to be held next July in Lucerne, Switzerland.
The team is made up of Inés, Pablo, Pia, Alberto and Pia, led by their teacher Beatriz.
The Shellbag biodegradable bag is already patented, it has a double-sided sticker that easily adheres to any bag of shelled snacks, in order to deposit the residues of any dried fruit. The simplest, most convenient and cheapest way to keep cities clean.
The Mini-companies Program is carried out thanks to the collaboration between the City of Madrid and private entities like Rafael del Pino Foundation, siemens, citi, EY Foundation, ArcelorMittal and La Caixa Foundation.
