The terrace of the Índigo hotel in Madrid was the setting chosen on Wednesday, September 14, for the Closing gala and awards ceremony of the 2016 GATO TERRAZAS AWARDS. This is the first edition of this initiative of the Association of Hospitality Entrepreneurs of the Community of Madrid (LA VIÑA), which has had the support of Mahou San Miguel and the City Hall to orchestrate this event that, since last June, has boosted the activity of the terraces of the capital.
51 are the terraces that, throughout the summer, they have worn the silhouette of the already iconic red cat that identified them as contestants. Of these, 25 have participated in the category of BEST GASTRONOMIC OFFER, an award that has gone to the terrace of the LOS GALAYOS restaurant extends over the traditional Plaza Mayor. For its part, the modern and central hotel JARDINES DE SABATINI (Cuesta de San Vicente, 16) has received the award for the MOST CHARMING TERRACE among the 7 that were fighting for the title and, finally, the roof of the HOTEL ÍNDIGO (Silva, 6) has obtained first place in the category of BEST NIGHT ENVIRONMENT to which 19 terraces have attended.
The public has had three months to visit, assess and vote for their favourites. As a result, 21,000 visits to the website have been received www.saborea-madrid.com, and the more than 2,000 valid votes that have determined the winners in each of the three categories have been collected.
The prizes, each consisting of a commemorative statuette and a trip to Paris for two people, as well as the diplomas for the second and third place in each category, were delivered during the closing ceremony. The event was attended by Mrs. Concepción Díaz de Villegas, General Director of Commerce and Entrepreneurship of the Madrid City Council, Mr. Juan José Blardony, General Director of LA VIÑA and Mr. Juan José de Madariaga representing Mahou San Miguel.
To thank the enthusiastic participation of the public in the Gato Terrazas Awards, LA VIÑA raffled off another trip to the city of light among the voters, an award that was given to its winner, Tatiana Guaneme.
THE VINEYARD has expressed its firm desire to carry out an annual edition of this initiative aimed at Madrid's terraces, authentic centers of attention for leisure and summer tourism in our city.
