On November 19, in an act presided over by the Mayor of Madrid, the companies selected in the international call for the Madrid Smart Lab program were presented, a support program for entrepreneurship developed by the Madrid City Council and Ferrovial Services to promote development of smart city projects. The prize for the winners consisted of joining a business acceleration program with the possibility of carrying out a pilot in the neighborhood of Las Tablas.
The 9 companies selected by Madrid Smart Lab have started on January 12 the training and acceleration program called "Global Accelerator Program" to help entrepreneurs develop their business ideas and turn them into viable business projects. The "Global Accelerator Program" has been designed by the Deusto Business School with a duration of six weeks and will address key areas for business growth such as strategic management, finance and value creation, geo-strategy and markets, innovation and entrepreneurial vision, as well as people and team management.
The inaugural session of the programme, which took place at the Madrid Smart Lab center in the Fuencarral-El Pardo District, was attended by Jose Antonio González de la Rosa, Councilor President of the Fuencarral-El Pardo District; Pedro González Torroba, General Director of Madrid Emprende; Iñaki Ortega, Director of Programs at Deusto Business School; Raúl del Pozo, from CINK Emprende, as well as representatives from Ferrovial Servicios.
Madrid Smart Lab is a pioneering initiative to support entrepreneurs who must provide innovative solutions to the citizen challenges raised in the call, which in this edition consisted of improving the mobility and quality of life of citizens For the mobility challenge , the winning solutions were Trazeo, I-Bump, BuzzStreet and AccityMAPS. Regarding the quality of life challenge, the solutions selected for the program were Mejora Tu Ciudad (MTC), CivilLift, SmartAppCity, Alehope and nanoCure.
