Accompanied by the General Director of Commerce and Entrepreneurship, Concha Diaz de Villegas, martha figs has inaugurated a space that began to be built on July 7, 2016, and which has had an investment of more than half a million euros. The Madrid City Council, through the General Directorate of Commerce and Entrepreneurship has supported this initiative of the Professional Association of Merchants, concessionaire of the Barcelo Market, with a grant of more than 60,000 euros.
The new space, located on the second floor of the market and with a total of 330 square meters, offers spaces for tasting and marketing gourmet products, restaurants and hotels, and a common area for leisure activities. Barceló Food Gourmet will offer a cultural program with activities such as exhibitions, book presentations, or musical performances. The project is in the municipal line of revitalization of the Madrid Markets, offering proposals adapted to current times that integrate the markets into the daily life of the neighborhoods.
