Numerous institutional personalities attended the start of the festivities for the 75th anniversary, such as Concepción Díaz de Villegas Solans, General Director of Commerce and Entrepreneurship of the City of Madrid, Jorge García Castaño, Councilor of the Districts of Center and Chamberí of the City of Madrid, and María José Pérez-Cejuela, General Director of Commerce and Consumption of the Community of Madrid, from the world of gastronomy as the Chef with two Michelin stars mario sandoval, in addition to the merchants themselves and numerous clients, among whom was the actress Manuela Velasco, who did not want to miss the opportunity to celebrate these 75 years of the market.
The General Director of Commerce and Entrepreneurship of the Madrid City Council has highlighted the role of Madrid markets as the backbone of the city of Madrid, and has congratulated the Antón Martín Market for a lifetime by and for its customers and for its great involvement in its modernization, as evidenced by its high participation in Market47 and in the app Mercamad.
Since it opened its doors in 1941, the Antón Martín market has been evolving and adapting to new consumer uses. It currently has about 80 modern stalls but steeped in history. Traditional food establishments together with new specialized shops, including restaurants, cafeterias, fishmongers, bakeries, butchers. Added to this are the adaptation and modernization works of its facilities in accordance with criteria of comfort and universal accessibility.
