Entrepreneurship Tour: entrepreneurship centers open their doors to students

Summary

Madrid Emprende is a collaborating entity of the Spanish sector of the European Union campaign eSkills for Jobs [http://eskillsjobsspain.com/] that they manage in Spain AMETIC [http://www.ametic.es/] and the Technologies Foundation of the information [http://www.fti.es/]. This campaign aims to promote the use of ICT and the safe use of the Internet, as well as technological vocations in young Europeans.
 
Throughout November and December, several eSkills for Jobs activities for students took place in Madrid, in which, keeping in mind their future employment, they were able to listen to representatives of companies in the sector related to their studies.
 
With the help of Madrid Emprende, the students have also learned about entrepreneurship as a work alternative, both through informative talks and the Entrepreneurship Tour: visits to centers of entrepreneurs belonging to the network of Madrid Emprende centers or that have its support.
 
November 7. Headquarters of the ETSIDI of the UPM
After the welcome of the Professor Roque Bald, attached to the direction for Relations with Companies and Institutions of ETSIDI and of Aida Millan, coordinator of the eSkills for Jobs campaign; e-commerce director of bq [http://www.bq.com/es/Guillem Barnolasspoke to the students of the ETSIDI (Higher Technical School of Engineering and Industrial Design) of the PSU (Polytechnic University of Madrid), of job opportunities in the digital context.
 
Barnolas said that "if you're not in the digital world, someone else will be," noting that "attitude is more important than aptitude. If you don't know, you can learn, but you have the attitude or you don't have it».
 
For your part Xavier Alonso, Chief Innovation Consultant at Madrid Emprende, highlighted that "entrepreneurship is a work alternative to take into account" and opined that "now there is no longer a single path that is the same for everyone, the paradigm has changed."
 
Next, the ETSIDI students traveled by bus to the bq headquarters, where they paid a visit.
 
November 13. ETSIDI students visit the Moratalaz Nursery and Madrid on Rails.
On Thursday, November 13, the students of the ETSIDI of the UPM arrived in first place at theVivero de Empresas of Moratalaz, the center of the Madrid Emprende Nursery Network specialized in design.
 
Amparo Perez, coordinator of the Network of Incubators, explained to the students the services offered by a business incubator, and valued the contact with other entrepreneurs offered by this type of center.
 
The students then visited the office of an entrepreneur incubated in the incubator,Karl Heinz Reiner, and had the opportunity to chat with him and his team. Karl explained to the students that "having your idea is great, but having good advice helps you get through the beginnings successfully."
 
The next stop on the Entrepreneurship Tour was downtown Madrid on Rails, also from Madrid Emprende. Alfonso Guillan, head of the center, explained to the students that "if you still don't have an office, you can reserve these meeting rooms at Madrid on Rails for free", and spoke about the activities for entrepreneurs that take place there.
 
December 1st. Information Sciences (UCM), Cultural Factory and Madrid on Rails
On Monday, December 1, a round table was held at the Faculty of Information Sciences of the UCM (Complutense University of Madrid). After the welcome from Hipolito Vivar, of Fonta Research Group of the UCM, intervened Ferdinand Herrero, deputy director general of Economic Promotion and Smart City at Madrid Emprende, who spoke about entrepreneurship as a job opportunity and detailed to the students the services that Madrid Emprende offers to entrepreneurs.
 
John Gascon, from AMETIC, explained to the students that despite the existing unemployment, there are profiles in the digital world that are not covered. For its part, Ignacio Perez Dolset, co-founder ofzed group [http://www.zed.com/es], opined that "the world has changed, but the world of communication even more", and that "in the digital field, the opportunities at this time are endless". Secondly, Gamaliel Martinez from u-tad [http://www.u-tad.com/], said that "the world of communication is no longer one-way".
 
Next, the Information Sciences students visited the Cultural Factory [http://factoriaculturalmadrid.es/]. It is an incubator for creative industries located in Slaughterhouse Madrid, and supported by various entities, including Madrid Emprende.
 
Santi Mazarrasa, responsible for the Cultural Factory, explained to the students that «we have only been here for 8 months, but the projects are going well». The students had the opportunity to talk with one of the entrepreneurs incubated in the Cultural Factory, who told them about his audiovisual production company Low Medium [http://www.lowmedia.es/].
 
The last stop of the day for the UCM students was Madrid on Rails.
 
December 4th. FICOD 2014.
The final event of the eSkills for Jobs campaign took place at FICOD 2014 [https://ficod.es/] (International Digital Content Fair). Participating in it were Juan Gascón, Pablo Hispanic(general director of Teaching Quality Improvement, of the counseling of Education, Youth and Sports of the Community of Madrid), Hipolito Vivar, Alberto Ufano(programmer in Pyro Studios), Jorge Calderon (member of the Advisory Council of U-tad) and Fernando Herrero of Madrid Emprende.
